Attention 116-mile riders:

At this time we know we have a construction project on Highway 40 from the bottom of Rabbit Ears Pass to the West summit. Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) are repaving both sides of the highway. Lucky for us CDOT representative Clint Moyer and his family are locals and active cyclists.  Mr. Moyer is working closely with us as we get closer to the summer and the date of our event to provide the best road conditions possible for this 7 mile climb to the summit.  If when we get closer to the event, we (tour de Steamboat staff and CDOT) decide we need to avoid Highway 40, we are planning contingency routes which will be equally challenging, similar distances and well supported!  In addition to collaborating with Mr. Moyer and CDOT, we are working closely with our State Patrol and Routt Country Road and Bridge staff to ensure road safety and quality are not compromised.  For now, Plan A includes the traditional routes we have listed on our website.
